Anna
Anna is the volunteer beekeeper at Pitney Meadows Community Farm, where she cares for the farm’s honey bees in the Welcome Center observation hive and the field apiary. Pitney holds a special place in Anna’s heart because it was here that she was first introduced to beekeeping many years ago. Ever since those first days of wonder and a few stings, Anna has endeavored to keep bees connected to the farm though educational opportunities, mentorship, grant writing and the occasional honey harvest party.
Anna is a certified Master Beekeeper through Cornell University. She also holds an advanced degree in Public Health from Boston University, where she worked for a decade supporting maternal-child health and infectious disease prevention programs on the African continent. Prior to her work at Boston University, Anna was an educator in Japan, various European countries and Peru. She is now happy to be living in Saratoga Springs with her family and a giant puppy and finds joy in helping to connect people of all ages to the smallest details of nature.
