Food for All

Our Food for All program connects local agriculture to hunger relief and healthcare, reaching thousands of individuals each month. From pantry distribution to clinically designed Food as Medicine programs, we provide fresh, intentionally grown food, never leftovers, while expanding access, supporting regional farmers, and honoring the dignity of every participant.

We believe that "food for all" is not just a vision but an action plan and a collective commitment. Join us in this endeavor as we nurture communities, foster opportunity, and cultivate a future where everyone has access to nutritious, locally sourced food. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.

At Pitney Meadows, we believe access to fresh, whole food is essential, not just for health, but for dignity and opportunity. Food for All brings this commitment to life through three distinct yet connected program areas.

Collectively, these programs deliver over 100,000 nutrient-dense servings, support 2,500+ individuals each month, and strengthen the regional food economy through values-based purchasing from local farms.

Farm-to-Pantry Program

Our Farm-to-Pantry program partners with a dozen regional food pantries and hunger-relief organizations to distribute fresh, Pitney-grown produce across the county. This work is powered by volunteer-driven coordination, ensuring food moves efficiently from our fields to our partners with a focus on freshness, quality, and dignity.

Through direct, streamlined distribution, we are able to reach communities quickly and consistently, strengthening both food access and the local food system. To complement this work, our Harvest Cooking Classes bring hands-on instruction to partner sites, empowering participants to prepare and enjoy the seasonal food they receive.

Food as Medicine (FAM): Clinical

Our Nutrition Rx program, "Food as Medicine: Clinical," connects patients to the nourishment and support they need to manage chronic disease. In partnership with Saratoga Hospital's Community Health Center, participants receive weekly food prescription boxes alongside physician-led group education and practical nutrition resources. By incorporating grains and proteins from regional farms, we ensure each prescription supports whole-person health while strengthening the local food system.

Now in its seventh year, this work continues to grow. Beginning in 2026, a three-year grant from the Hortense and Louis Rubin Community Health Fund of The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region will support the expansion of the program and deepen its impact.

Food as Medicine (FAM): Residential

Food as Medicine: Residential extends the reach of our Nutrition Rx approach by embedding food access and education within low-income housing settings. Through weekly food prescription boxes, clinically designed materials, and on-site chef-led cooking classes, participants are supported in building lasting, health-promoting habits.

Values-based purchasing allows us to offer a more complete diet, incorporating grains and proteins from regional farms alongside local produce.
