Music Meets The Meadows: Pitney Meadows Community Farm Announces Two Free Music Experiences Connecting Community, Agriculture, And The Arts
This season, Pitney Meadows Community Farm invites the community to experience the farm through the universal language of music. With two immersive, family-friendly programs, the farm will transform its fields and gardens into spaces where art, agriculture, and community come together.
Friday, July 17th, 2026 at 6:00pm: “Community Farm Bluegrass Jam!” Free Tickets
Saturday, September 19th at 3:00pm: “Farm & Sound: A Children’s Musical Afternoon!” Free Tickets
The first event, Community Farm Bluegrass Jam, takes place on Friday, July 17, at 6:00pm, bringing the timeless sounds of bluegrass to the fields of Pitney Meadows. Local musicians Tim Wechgelaer and Chris Carey of “Mostly Modern” will kick off the evening with a lively performance before inviting everyone to join the jam!
Guests are encouraged to pack a picnic blanket, bring dinner from home, or pick up fresh provisions from the Farm Stand, settle into the evening, and enjoy live music surrounded by open fields, gardens, and sunset skies. During the second half of the program, musicians of all skill levels are invited to grab an instrument… whether they bring their own or borrow one from us… and become part of the music!
Bluegrass has long been woven into the fabric of communities, where neighbors gathered after long days in the fields to share songs, stories, and friendship. This evening celebrates that tradition while creating new memories together at our Community Farm!
Later this season, families are invited to "Farm & Sound:" A Children's Musical Afternoon on Saturday, September 19, from 3:00–4:00pm. Presented by Mostly Modern Festival's FAB5 (String Quartet & Percussion), this imaginative program introduces children to music through the lens of farming, food, and nature.
Designed for young learners and their families, the experience includes interactive demonstrations of string instruments, rhythm activities, opportunities to meet professional musicians, and a guided walk through the gardens. The afternoon concludes with a whimsical "sound picnic," where produce, herbs, natural materials, and instruments come together in a playful exploration of sound, creativity, and place.
Together, these programs reflect Pitney Meadows' belief that farms nourish more than food… they cultivate creativity, belonging, and meaningful connections between people.
"Community is built around shared experiences," said Brooke McConnell, Executive Director of Pitney Meadows Community Farm. "Whether it's gathering around a meal, working side by side in the garden or fields, or making music together, these moments remind us that community is something we create together."
Both events are free to attend with a suggested donation of $20, and advance sign-up is encouraged.
