Job Opportunity: Field Crew

 

Pitney Meadows Community Farm is a 166-acre working community farm located in the heart of Saratoga Springs, NY.  The Farm offers agricultural education opportunities, champions healthy food production and access, and fosters connection to land through recreation for everyone in our community. We are seeking qualified candidates to serve on our seasonal part-time planting/harvesting crew.

The Field Crew positions start in Late May and go through September.  The work schedule is Monday, Wednesday, Friday starting at 8am and ending at 1pm, totaling 15 hours per week possible but not guaranteed.  Potential for more hours a week during our very busy season in June/July.  Pay starts at $12 an hour.

Previous experience is not as important as a good work ethic and willingness to learn and work in a team setting.  Crew members will be responsible for harvesting the vegetables following our Food Safety Plan procedures and regulations.  Crew members will also be planting crops and doing various field work including but not limited to trellising, weeding, watering, etc.  The preferred candidate will have the following skills; a strong work ethic, a great attitude, good communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team settingAlong with being able to demonstrate attention to detail, we look for employees who are very reliable, and can stand on their feet for long periods of time and lift up to 50lb.  This job requires lifting heavy bins very often in wet conditions.

Good footwear is mandatory and attire you don’t mind getting dirty.  A change of clothes is recommended- sometimes our tasks will get us fairly wet, raingear is suggested for when weather calls.
