Chef Michelle Hunter

A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, Michele's cuisine emphasizes balance, bold flavors, and thoughtful simplicity. Rooted in classic French fundamentals, her menus highlight the rich offerings of local farms and purveyors, celebrating the connection between food and place.

For 3 years, Michele served as Executive Chef at Hamlet & Ghost, where she gained recognition for her ability to craft inventive, seasonal dishes. During her time there, she competed and won on an episode of Chopped that aired in March 2020. Her journey also led her to playing pivotal roles in opening a brewery kitchen, working on a flower farm, and launching a craft cocktail bar in Hudson in 2024.

Now, Michele turned her attention towards opening Familiar Creature, where she's excited to bring her pastry expertise and creative vision to the forefront. A dedicated mentor, she thrives on teaching and helping new cooks grow, fostering an environment where their ideas can flourish and come to life on the plate.
