Melissa S.

Community Gardens & Engagement Manager

Melissa brings years of experience in managing community gardens and providing space and education for people to produce their own food. She believes community gardens are essential to building resilience for the future, supporting both environmental and social wellness. She looks forward to offering nature-based exploratory learning, and as an artist, joining the vibrant integration of art into our edible landscape.

Her hobbies include bicycling and hiking through natural communities at preserves, the Adirondacks and Catskill mountains. She also enjoys many forms of art including illustration, paper arts, experimenting with natural dyes, and collage.

Melissa is currently taking courses at the Native Plant Trust on botany and conservation ecology, and loves learning about native plants and the kingdom of fungi!
