Dara Silbermann

For over a decade, Dara Silbermann traveled the North American continent, seeking hands-on farm experience and tapping deep into the wealth of knowledge cultivated by small farmers across the Americas. Ferried from coast to coast in their Subaru-turned-mobile-homestead, Dara worked with dozens of farmers and earth stewards, learning the wildly varied approaches to growing food and medicine and the difficulties of distributing them to the people in need. After a few years of farming throughout the Hudson Valley, Dara settled in Troy, NY. They've been active in the urban farm scene in the Capital Region ever since, growing native and edible gardens, advocating for ecologically coherent local policies, and building relationships among neighbors one harvest at a time.
